Cable lock
A titanium wire can occasionally be very useful to grip around the lamina. For this reason the cable lock has been developed that gives a rigid connection of the cable to the rod with controlled tension.

Its primary use is to fix the C1 on to the occiput rod which is otherwise impossible. The lock can also be used on the C2 and C3 vertebras and laterally on the C5 and C6.

The Cable lock can not be combined with the C1-claw.

Surgical technique

Insert the wire into the cannulated wire guide until it lines up with the tip of the guide. Use the wire guide to thread the wire around the arch. Pull the wire out of the guide and remove the guide leaving the wire threaded around the arch. Thread the wire through the loop that is mounted on the rod. Assemble the lock on the wire. Push the lock down into the loop. Use the cable lock screwdriver to tighten the wire and fix the lock.
